The RGFN download library offers various software programs including graphical user interface programs and other utilities for DOS, Windows, and Macs. Such offerings are provided on a test or trial basis and change from time to time as upgrades and updates become available. Be sure to read the information files about any program that you want to download and use. The information notices provide important messages about the file, its installation, and license agreement.
Many of the programs offered in the download library are self-extracting
files. This file type is a compressed or packed file(s) that will unpack
itself when you type the filename. For example, if the name of the file
is N16e11n.EXE then you would type this filename at you directory prompt
and press the ENTER key:
C:\Temp\n16e11n.exe
Note: You unpack or extract this file on your hard drive after you download it.
Ultra TwinSock is a freeware program. There are actually two parts to TwinSock. One part of the program resides on the Rio Grande Free-Net system (or host system) to enable a pseudo SLIP connection. The second part, which is this downloable file, is a Windows program that communicates with RGFN (or host) to provide a connection that supports the use of Web browsers on your personal computer without a true SLIP/PPP connection. You need Ultra TwinSock to run programs like Netscape. This is a self- extracting file. Place it a sub-directory and run the self-extractor. Netscape is a graphical browser for the World Wide Web. It is not freeware software for everyone so please read the license agreement. Graphical browsers like Netscape bring the Net alive with color, pictures, sound, and animation. This is a self-extracting file. Place it a sub-directory and run the self-extractor. Help is availble in the program and accompanying readme.txt files.
This a FTP program that runs under Windows and allows you to get files from other systems without the need of step-by-step download procedures. WS_FTP puts the files right on your computer. This is a self-extracting file. You must be running Windows 3.1 to use WS_FTP. Place it a sub-directory and run the self-extractor. Help is available in its document files.
Yawtel is a telnet client that runs under Windows and provides a quick and easy way to run a telnet session. This is a self-extracting file. Place it a sub-directory and run the self-extractor. Help is available in its document files.
